September 2016

This month we had a visit from our ORI friends, the O’Connors and Don Lippert.
We had a great day in Bend with them.

I caught this little furry creature on a plant hanger about 6 feet
up the tree.  He was just enjoying the sun!

One of Mike’s favorites….. Jury Duty (in Vancouver, Washington.)
One of the kinks in full timing…… but we are so fortunate that our son and his family live in Vancouver, so we stayed with them for 10 days while Mike called in every day…… but was never required to show up for a trial.
While we were visiting, Ben and Anna started school.  First day – Ben is in the 8th grade, Anna is in the 6th grade and Karen teaches math in the 6th grade.

In Bend, near the Old Mill District, we found some rapids
(I think they are man made) for the kayakers.
A little too rough for us old folks, but they sure look like fun!
We are smooth water kayakers  :)

John and Bonnie came to Sunriver for a visit….. and they surprised us
with their new purchase.  A beautiful bright red convertible mustang.  It’s gorgeous!
This picture is taken on top of Pilot Butte with the entire town of
Bend stretched out below us.

When we first arrived in Sunriver, there were so few deer
and even fewer fawns, but as the summer has moved on, they are coming out more.

Back to the Portland area to see the kids one last time before we head south.  Ben and Anna went to “I Fly” where they floated on air in a wind tank.  They both LOVED the experience.  You can tell by the smiles on their faces!

Fall is definitely here.  The leaves are beautiful.

We have been fortunate to go to two of Camryn’s soccer games
(they won both of them!) and watch Camryn score two goals.

A wonderful visit with Ken and Darlene Sutton.  Friends for many years.  Ken just had a knee replacement and is doing wonderful.  So good to spend time with both of them!

This month, we also had  dinner with Tom and Vanessa from Bend.
Always good to see them both!

We also had a wonderful lunch with Mike’s sister, Sheri and her husband, John
Always good to catch up with family!

We are leaving soon to head south to our winter location..
I hear the sun and the warmth calling me.

August 2016

August is history…..the summer is speeding by

The Deschutes County Fair was a lot of fun……

This was so sweet.  A little girl reading with her pig.
So relaxed and comfortable.

I loved this horse.  He was gigantic.
I barely came up to the tip of his nose!

John & Sheri (Mike’s youngest sister) came up for 10 days.
We had so much fun.  One afternoon, Sheri and I made swim bags

One day we headed into town, took in some pickleball games
and saw several ORI friends.
After that, we went to a car show.
There were so many cars of all types

I thought this was cute…… and Mike loved it!

We also took a day and went kayaking up at Sparks Lake.
It was a beautiful day… but the lake was really low on water.

What a scary sight when you are living in the woods.
A forest fire just a few miles from our place.
The Forest Service was really on this fire and thank goodness
the wind was blowing into the woods in our favor.
It was contained at around 300 acres.

We had a great day on the river with Marc & Maria,
Brandon & Karen and the kids!
They skied, knee boarded, wake boarded and tubed….
the weather was perfect…..a good time was had by all.

Then we headed up to Brandon’s.  Mike was called in for Jury Duty
in Clark County, WA (our residence)  He calls in every day
but so far, they haven’t called his group number.  Maybe tomorrow.

Ben and Anna started back to school today (8th and 6th grades)
Camryn (high school junior) and Colby (8th grade) (in Oregon) start back next week.

So fun to watch them on their special days.

July 2016

What a Month!
We started the month at the St. Paul Rodeo.  The Burlingham’s from ORI
got us special VIP tickets for the Rodeo.  We also saw the Halters and Gary Simon too.
We had such a great time!
I have always wanted to see a real rodeo!

Brandon, Karen, Ben & Anna were in Sunriver for the Fourth of July
S’mores!  Yum!

On the Fourth, we all went into the Bend Pet Parade.
Hundreds of pets…..  all kinds – Birds, Cows, Horses, Chickens, Lizards
Dogs, Cats and many more!

Our little gymnast on a paddle board while floating down the Deschutes.

Next, we went up to Kent Washington to watch Ben play in the
Little League State tournament.  His team came in 4th.

We took a quick trip up to the Pike’s Street Market before an afternoon game.

Oh – those fresh fruits and veggies…..they look so good!

We spent a few days with Marc & Maria to watch Colby in his JBO
District finals.  Unfortunately, Colby suffered a concussion and a bruised
femur and had to leave the final game to go to the Emergency Room.
GOOD NEWS!  With a few days rest, he’s fine now.

Just a few days later, we are on our way north again.
We spent a night with Neil Peterson on his fabulous
houseboat in Seattle.

This is Neil’s view from his deck.  His houseboat is
unbelievable……. Gorgeous!
Windows everywhere and not a single curtain!

From Seattle, we drove up to Chase, British Columbia to visit with
Dan and Shirley Brumbaugh – ORI friends.
Wow!  Their home is fantastic.
We stayed on their houseboat – what fun!

Dan & Shirley live on Adams Lake.  A simply beautiful lake
with very few people or boats on it.

We went into the woods on Dan’s Razor.  I had a blast!

Dan and his girl, Jennie on their Skidoo.
The weather was great!

Shirley & I drove into Salmon Arm in her birthday present!
It is a 2016 gorgeous white Corvette!

Dan took Mike & I up to Margaret Falls……
A beautiful walk in the woods.

We finished the month back in Vancouver, WA.
My niece, Kristin & her husband Rick had a great party
to celebrate their recent marriage.
It was wonderful to catch up with my sisters and their families!

Whew!  What a busy month!

June 2016

Summer is Here!!

June is the birthday of our youngest granddaughter, Anna.
So grown up – Anna is now 11

We have a new member of the Fox family,
Brandon & Karen adopted Luna, a new little feisty kitty.

We had many visitors on our lot in Sunriver this year.
It must have been a hard winter, we don’t have nearly as many
dear as usual…. And no fawns this spring.

Look closely, can you see the squirrel?  He is very bold, sitting
on the plant holder on the deck.

And a beautiful Heron on the canal behind our lot.

We took the motorhome up to Lake Simtustus for a long Father’s Day
camping weekend with Brandon, Karen and family.  They got the
chance to try out their new kayaks.

Then… a last minute….fabulous week at Pueblo Bonito at Sunset Beach
in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.  It was a beautiful resort!

Built on a hillside on the Pacific side
in Cabo.  They had golf carts that would
take us all over the resort.

Our favorite spot in the resort was the …very quiet..
adult pool.  Wonderful!

Cabo is famous for “Lands End” the very tip of the Baja Peninsula

The resort offered a free shuttle into town where we could
enjoy the two sister resorts.  They were also beautiful.

What a wonderful month!

May 2016

In May….. We have been on the move

While up in Lake Havasu visiting with Mike’s sister and brother,
we stopped by at Fox’s RV Resort.
Here are the two Fox boys posing at their sign.

We also fed the very tame donkey’s.
They come up to the car along side the highway.
They somehow knew that we had apple slices!

Down on the Colorado River near Parker,
we stopped at a great bar for a drink.

Back in Indio, it was time to close up our lot and head north for the summer.
I always hate to leave Indio…. But it’s starting to get hot.

We headed up Highway 395 – So incredibly beautiful.
The Sierra’s are covered with snow – just what California needs.
It has been a very dry winter.

We finally made it to Sunriver.
We had a welcome from our Canadian friends.
The snow last winter was pretty rough……
We had two trees down and the roof on our pump house had caved in.

We had an unexpected visit with Tom and Linda West from Alabama.
It was great seeing them

We drove up to Redmond and stayed at Eagle Crest with
Marc, Maria and Colby over the Memorial Day Weekend.
Colby was there for a Baseball Tournament so
we got some wonderful game watching time.

Colby is 13 now and so very grown up.
We had a great time over the weekend.

My knee is wonderful.
I walk 2 miles every other day and ride my bike on the opposite days.
I take two Tylenol no more than once a day.  I’m feeling GREAT!

Oregon - Mike & Janet - October 2025
