 My birthday month – come and gone

Brandon and Sam (the son of Brandon and Karen’s friends)
ran the Portland Marathon.  They both did great and it was fun to watch them come into the finish line.

We went to an Oregon State Football game….
They are doing terrible but watching the game in person
was fantastic.  I loved it.

We took the trailer from the football game down
to the beach.  We stayed at Beverly Beach and had a really fun time

The Oregon coast is beautiful

Sunset – gorgeous !

One day we went to the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
I was really impressed – a great aquarium.

Newport Oregon is a beautiful bay with so many fishing boats.

Falls in Oregon are amazing.  The colors are so beautiful.

 

I had a very special birthday.  So many birthday wishes and a
wonderful dinner with Marc, Maria, Mike, Camryn, Carter, Colby
and Sophia

78 I can’t believe I’m getting so old !!

 October has been a great month.  I had a steroid injection in my back
and it has made a big difference…..My back pain is much less.

October was great – November promises to be even better !

Where has the Summer gone?

Mike has done a fabulous job on our backyard…..
I love our new deck and pergola.

John & Sheri along with Ron & Jan and Mike & I, went for a
convertible cruise to Astoria…….
The Columbia River bridge is awesome covering over 4 miles of river
that includes one of the most dangerous “bars” in in the world.

The next day we drove to Seaside and found our way to
the “Peter Iredale” that sunk off the coast many years ago.
Not much left of it now.

 Before we moved to Country Roads in Yuma, AZ, we spent our winters
in Outdoor Resorts in Yuma.  This month, some of our dearest friends
from Outdoor Resorts, Kim & Alice Hansen from Albert Lea in Minnesota, came to Oregon for a visit.  They came west for a family wedding and we were so pleased to see them while they were here.

Later in the month, we took our new trailer up to
Detroit Lake near Central Oregon.

 The water is very low,
the workers at the dam are getting ready for the winter snow pack and then the spring run-off to fill the Lake.

 

Just came from the doctors office….bad news.  I am going to have to quit eating sweets, dairy and artificial sweets.
Just shoot me now…….

I LOVE SWEETS !

(That’s why I married Mike 😊)

Oregon - Mike & Janet - August 2025

 

The summer is speeding by……

We started off the month dog watching for our grand dog Enzo…..

He was a little dream.  So much fun.  Brandon and Karen went to Canada and didn’t want to try to get Enzo thru the border.

We went to Central Oregon Camping for a week……Enzo
spent time staring at a very brave rabbit.
He never made any attempt to catch the rabbit…..just stare at him.

While in Central Oregon, we went over to see Smith Rock.
Beautiful rock formations.

Enzo is a good little traveler

Next we went to the Street of Dreams…..

10,000,000 home gorgeous but a little out of our price range…
After a few homes we went to see the container homes…..
A little small – no room for storage.
Finally some more reasonable homes, when we talked about it, I decided my favorite home was the one we are living in…..  I love it.

Camryn and Carter are building a new home for their life together.
It’s going to be beautiful! 

Next we are watching Duke…. What a special dog.

He has been such a good dog……
 I think he thinks he is our dog now. 

We took Max (Rapid transit) downtown Portland to have lunch with Brandon and Ben at Goose Hollow Inn.  The best Ruebens ever !!

Really a fun day !!

We are getting adjusted to Oregon weather…… it’s been a beautiful summer.  Love living here….  Plenty to do….

 What a great month!

What a perfect couple….
Camryn and Carter are engaged !!

We are so very happy for them both….
Plans are for an August 2026 wedding !!

Meanwhile……. Mike and I celebrated our 58^th Anniversary’’’
Whew – that’s a long time!

Mike and his buddy Joe built us a really nice deck in the backyard.

A new deck in the backyard…….  I LOVE IT !!!

One nice beautiful day, we drove up to Cascade Locks in the Columbia Gorge to have lunch and a visit with Anna.  She is working at a really good fish and seafood restaurant.  YUM!!

Not too much snow on Mt. Hood.
After we left Anna, we drove around the backside of Mt. Hood.
So beautiful !

At a 50^th Anniversary Party of some very dear friends, we met up with
Mark and Kathy Gentemann.  Mark and Kathy lived right across the street from us and they are parents of Brandon’s childhood friend
Jason Gentemann.  So much fun catching up with old friends.

We sold “Tiny” and bought a new camping Rig…….
I think his name is going to be “Mr. T”

We LOVE the new trailer…… so much room, so nice!

 

Great visit from Rick and Judy Hoage from Country Roads in Yuma.
Sorry no pictures but a great time!

We headed out to Neskowin for 4 Gorgeous days.
While in Neskowin, we ran into Brian Kelly
and his partner Mia.  Great visit about the Good ol' Days.

Oregon - We're here!! - Mike & Janet - June 2025

 

Summer is buzzing past……

Mike has enjoyed Golf with Marc, Camryn and Maria….

I have enjoyed riding around with them.!!

 

We have put Tiny up for sale Tiny was just too tiny for the two fo us.

Tiny sold to a really nice couple from Rockaway.

AND

We bought a Grand Design Imagine.

It is wonderful….not too much longer than Tiny but it has a slide (really helpful) and it has a Murphy Bed (that give us so much more room)

We are so excited to start camping.  There area so many places we can go……the coast…..the mountains…..the lakes……. Here we come !

We went up to Stub Stewart State Park for a trial run!
We went with John and Sheri and had a great time.

The middle of June, we took our convertible Mustang and went topless with John and Sheri and Ron and Jan down to Albany.

We went to a carousel museum….very interesting and
of course we also got a ride!

The next day we drove through  the countryside and saw four different covered bridges.  Beautiful.

We also stopped and toured the Oregon Gardens…..
Not a lot in bloom at this time of year but I was told earlier in the Spring it’s spectacular

I have started Physical Therapy for my back pain……
not sure if it is helping or not.

The big project for June is our back deck.  Mike and his friend Joe along with John Soukup have built a beautiful deck.  A wonderful addition to our very plain backyard.

We have been watching our “Grandog” Duke while our kids were out of town……… so much fun.  Duke is loving the backyard too!

 July is here!

    April 2025

April is over already……

What a busy month……. The time is flying by

but only 3 pictures!

Oregon State Baseball……… OSU is doing great #3 in the Nation  right now.

We have spent time watching our Grand-dog Duke.
Duke is a great dog and so much fun to have in our new home.
We also have another Grand-dog, Enzo……. Enzo
has yet to stay with us.

We have been busy getting furniture for  our new home……
A big house without a stick of furniture.
I know it sound like fun….. but it gets tiring after a while.

This picture is a sectional we bought (used) had it cleaned and decided we didn’t like it

Away it went.  Sold it!

 

We are enjoying Oregon….more than I expected,

Next week we are traveling to Fort Worth Texas for the
the college graduation of one of my grandson’s
Colby is graduating from TCU.
