May 2016

In May….. We have been on the move

While up in Lake Havasu visiting with Mike’s sister and brother,
we stopped by at Fox’s RV Resort.
Here are the two Fox boys posing at their sign.

We also fed the very tame donkey’s.
They come up to the car along side the highway.
They somehow knew that we had apple slices!

Down on the Colorado River near Parker,
we stopped at a great bar for a drink.

Back in Indio, it was time to close up our lot and head north for the summer.
I always hate to leave Indio…. But it’s starting to get hot.

We headed up Highway 395 – So incredibly beautiful.
The Sierra’s are covered with snow – just what California needs.
It has been a very dry winter.

We finally made it to Sunriver.
We had a welcome from our Canadian friends.
The snow last winter was pretty rough……
We had two trees down and the roof on our pump house had caved in.

We had an unexpected visit with Tom and Linda West from Alabama.
It was great seeing them

We drove up to Redmond and stayed at Eagle Crest with
Marc, Maria and Colby over the Memorial Day Weekend.
Colby was there for a Baseball Tournament so
we got some wonderful game watching time.

Colby is 13 now and so very grown up.
We had a great time over the weekend.

My knee is wonderful.
I walk 2 miles every other day and ride my bike on the opposite days.
I take two Tylenol no more than once a day.  I’m feeling GREAT!

April 2016

Lots of fun in April
Our “topless group” took a convertible ride up to Big Bear Lake.
Beautiful Day!

We had a Anniversary potluck for Paul & Evelyn…….
68 years!

We got a Custom Shade Cover and had it moved (on a rainy day)
and installed on our lot.

All set up – We love it!
We are so happy

We helped a good friend of ours celebrate his 70th birthday

We drove up to Lake Havasu for a four day weekend…

How lucky – It just happened to be the big fancy boat weekend!

Pat, Rollie, Chuck, Eva, Mike and I went out in Pat & Rollie’s pontoon
boat to watch the big boys parade by

Beautiful boats……. One of them caught on fire and burned up
what a waste

Even a cute little car/boat

Rollie, Pat, Chuck, Eva and Mike……
fun weekend!

My physical therapy continues and my knee is better every day!
Many times, I even forget that I had a knee replacement!

March 2016

I was right – March has been a much better month!

Look at my new knee…. It is so much better than the old one!
It doesn’t hurt!

We took a “Topless” run up to Lake Arrowhead and I saw daffodils.
The first time in years.  They were so beautiful

The restaurant at Lake Arrowhead overlooked the water and was
decorated with a nautical theme.

In March we had a visit from Pat and Rollie.  They drove over from Lake Havasu to
spend a few days with us and to go on one of our “Topless” runs.
This trip was to Julian – where they make luscious apple pies!

Along the road, the wild flowers are in beautiful bloom.

That night, we had a great dinner at ORI in the clubhouse.
We had a great visit with Pat and Rollie.

Our “End of the Season” party was on a beautiful day  (they all are beautiful)
We had the best food, entertainment, snow cones, open bar and water volleyball!

We had a wonderful Easter… we started the day with church, then a fabulous brunch and topped the day off with a wonderful dinner at Jim and Gayle McNeeces.

Great March – Looking forward to April.

February 2016

We started off February on our own little “Topless Cruise”
Mike and I, along with two other couples spent a beautiful day touring through some smaller southern California towns and enjoying the scenery.

The beautiful days have given us beautiful mornings,
just perfect for hot air balloons!

Several of us drove up to Johnson Valley for the “King of the Hammers Experience”  It is the day after the King of the Hammers off roading race.  The man speaking in the picture is one of the contestants….  It was a very interesting day.  About 100 off road jeeps drove on the race course….. but instead of driving about 100 miles an hour….. we drove at approx. 15 miles an hour.  The drivers train for 6 months to physically get into shape.  The race must be grueling!

Super bowl Sunday!  Great Day – Great weather – Great game…..
Great outcome!
Way to go Broncos!

This was a picture from our “real” Topless cruise.  We made a stop at the International Banana Museum.  Just one of many stops on this fun day!

I made this quilt for our dear friends….. the O’Connors.  I was so happy as to how it turned out, I have already bought material to make one for Mike and I.
It’s called “Strip Search”

February 12th……  BIG DAY!  I had a Total Knee Replacement at Eisenhower Hospital.  I am getting sick of these hospital gown pictures for our blog.  Enough.  I am vowing to stay healthy!   My knee has been bothering me for about a year and a half….. and I finally decided to get it taken care of.  They had me up walking on day of surgery.

Home !  I have home health care (Physical Therapy) coming to the motor home three times a week to get me going on my exercises.  Walking 3 times a day (with a walker – then moving to a cane)  Ice on my leg 3 – 5 times a day.  Exercises 3 times a day.  This picture shows flowers from my sisters–in-law and their husbands and my brother-in-law and his wife.  Cheery flowers!  Thanks so much!

The month ends….still exercising, still walking, still icing…… still in pain….but I vow……
March will be BETTER!     Stay tuned  :)

January 2016

We started January by driving over to Lake Havasu City for a visit with Pat & Rollie and Chuck & Eva.  It was great seeing them.  We had a really fun time.

Snow on the mountains surrounding the Palm Springs area.
We love this area…. So beautiful!

This is our Sunriver lot in the winter…..  can you see why we head south?

We took a “topless” (convertible) ride up Box Canyon.
These hills don’t even look real.

It’s the Road To California Quilt Show time again.
Thousands of people at this large quilt show.

This quilt is gorgeous….. so life like.

This quilt looks plain in my picture, but it was my very favorite.
It was exquisitely hand quilted.

January is Mike’s annual trip to Bandon, Oregon to golf with the boys.
They had some semi decent weather (for the Oregon Coast in January)
As always, he had a blast.

On a beautiful off roading day we saw these colorful Brittlebush flowers

December 2015

2015 is over…Time to move on
Early in the month, we went on a “off-roading” trip to this
unusual rock formation. Out
in the desert is this huge rock,
in times past, folks thought it was from outer space.

Lunch with good friends….. wonderful food, great weather.

The Mad Hatters Tea Party was a great success.
It was a formal tea and the ORI staff dressed
in Alice in Wonderland costumes!

Fun at Monday night Taco’s with good friends,
John and “Bunny” Kearsing

December 21st, we flew to Portland for Christmas with our kids and grandkids.
One night we drove around looking at Christmas lights.
Isn’t this house gorgeous?

Our two granddaughters, Camryn and Anna….. having fun!

Christmas morning, what a surprise, Camryn got a car!
Wow!  It’s a beauty!

Anna is wearing the Santa hat…
She’s all ready to start opening presents!

We drove up to The Dalles for Christmas with Karen’s family.
We had such a great time with all of them.  They are a fun group!
and it snowed!

Here’s our Fox clan ….2015.
We had such a wonderful holiday with all of them!

We are now back at ORI….  Ready for the big party tonight.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
