July 2013

As July starts, our trip with our 10 year old grandson – Colby, comes to a close.
What fun and great memories we have made.

Unfortunately, the Giants were on the road while we were in the area……
but we did get to take a great tour of Giants Stadium.
Colby is a great Giants fan!

AT and T Park is beautiful.  It’s right in downtown San Francisco
and also right on the waterfront.

The Fourth of July, we went to another Oakland A’s  baseball game.
The A’s beat the Chicago Cubs in a close 1-0 matchup.
These baseball games are so great.  I’ve become a fan!!

Back in Sunriver, we met up with our son Brandon and his family.
Our two grandson’s from different families are great buddies and love to
spend time together.  Colby and Ben had an awesome
time at the Sunriver SHARC center!

After we returned Colby to his parents, we headed to Vancouver, Washington
for Mike to serve his jury duty.  He was selected for a jury and we were
fortunate to spent those 8 days with Brandon & Karen.

While in Vancouver, we were able to see Anna (8) perform with her
gymnastics team.  Those adorable little girls are very talented.

One day we went out on Marc & Maria’s boat.  The weather was fantastic.
We pulled Camryn (13 – on the left) with her friends.

Next was the “Fox Family Campout”  our annual family get together.
2013 was at Belknap Hot Springs just east of Eugene, OR.  We ate a lot,
drank a lot, and played a lot of games!

Face Painting and Balloon tying!  A great time - Fun Times for everyone!!

Mike and I with our two sons, our two daughter-in-laws and our
four grandchildren.  Every one of us had an awesome time!

June 2013

June has been an exciting and really fast month.  Is it over already?

We left Indio early in the month and headed for St. George Utah.
What a beautiful town!

And of course we had a wonderful time with our
friends Denny and Kay Struss!

After a great 4 day visit, we headed north.  On the way, we came across this great sculpture where the Pony Express came through the west!

Right after we arrived in Sunriver, OR, we had a visit from some ORI friends (Ron and Mary Ellen Taylor) and some brand new neighbors.  (Steve and Linda Petersen) along with Steve and Linda’s daughter and her husband.

We also enjoyed a lovely dinner at Steve and Linda’s.  Great to have old friends in the neighborhood!

The old lot in Sunriver looks great.  Nice to be here!
Back to our good old Monday night Taco Salads at the American Legion!
They don’t get any better!!

Our dear friends, John and Bonnie Kearsing came up to Sunriver to stay with us for a few weeks.  We had a wonderful time.  This day, we drove up to Paulina and East Lakes.  Gorgeous day!

While John and Bonnie were here, we enjoyed some time kayaking.
In this picture we were enjoying a great day on the lake!!

We left the motorhome and drove the car to Marc and Maria’s for a few days to take in some baseball games of Colby’s before we head out.  Marc took us out on his great new ski boat!  Wow!  It’s beautiful!

Colby’s team won the tournament they were playing in!

Back to Sunriver….got in the motorhome and off we go!
This is Colby’s 10 year old trip and we get to have him with us for two
weeks in between some of his baseball games.
We headed to Vacaville, California and that will be our home base
for the next two weeks.

Beautiful day for an Oakland A’s vs the Cincinnati Red’s
Oakland won 6-0.  I’m really liking professional baseball…Colby does too!
The BART ride to the game was also a great experience!

Next day………A tour of the Jelly Belly factory!
Yum!!

Next day……we went to 6 Flags Discovery Park in Vallejo.
We arrived when it opened and left when it closed!
(Grandma is getting tired.)

Mike and Colby went on every ride imaginable!  Some of them twice.

Really cool water show with acrobats, jugglers and of course dolphins!

Rounding out June with another Oakland A’s baseball game.  Although they lost this one (Cardinals 7 - A’s 1) the A’s remain first in the
American League West.

Our trip isn’t over yet……… stay tuned next month for more fun!

May 2013

May is an incredibly beautiful month in the Palm Springs area.  The flowers are all
in bloom and the birds are singing their songs.  It’s been a little
windy this year but a great month none the less.

We had been told that there were wonderful metal sculptures in Borrego Springs.  The visitor’s center gave us a map and we began exploring.  We found over 120 giant - metal - mostly animals.  This serpent was my favorite….it is about 25 feet tall and is almost 100 feet long.

This horse and miner (see below the horse) were so very intricate.

The scorpion was Mike’s favorite.

Brandon, Karen, Ben & Anna came to Southern California to visit Disneyland.
Mike and I drove over to spend some time with them.
We had so much fun……but boy was I beat!
Grandma isn’t as young as she used to be.

Ben and Anna with Phineas & Ferb!

Pat has moved to 29 Palms (about 1¼ hours north of Indio) to be closer to Rollie.
They are both so very happy.  We went up to see them and
Rollie gave us a great tour of both the town and the Marine Base.  That night we
went to a “Big & Rich” concert on the base.  We had a fun weekend with them.
I miss having Pat near us but I am so very happy, that she is so very happy!

Andy, Rhonda, Lisa, PJ, Mike & I took a full moon hike in the desert.  I wasn’t too
sure about the whole idea…..but I’m so glad we went.
It was beautiful….we didn’t even use the flashlights….
the moonlight was incredibly bright.

Pat & Rollie came down to Indio for Memorial Day.  After a nice swim, we
went out to dinner and had a great day.  We will look forward to seeing them in the fall.

I finished another quilt.  The colors are bright and
I’m very happy with the finished product!

We packed up our “stuff” and headed north.  We stopped in St. George Utah
for a four day visit with our friends, Denny & Kay.  I love this town…….it’s clean,
temperate weather, gorgeous red rock surrounding the area, nice –
really nice people… and of course it’s in beautiful Utah (my favorite state)

We will be leaving St George in a few days, heading to central Oregon.

April 2013

April has arrived and that’s when most of the folks from Outdoor Resorts start heading home.  Since our home is with us wherever we go…….. we will stay put for a while  (and we will be at home)
Going away parties are happening frequently.  We say “good bye” to
all our dear friends and then look forward to seeing all of them in the fall.

I finished up another quilt.  This one is a trial for me.  I have decided to try my hand at free motion “machine quilting”  First you piece the quilt……then quilt (putting the back, batting and the pieced top all together)  I have been studying the art of machine quilting and this is my first attempt.

The evening skies have been phenomenal.
The colors are outstanding.

We took a trip up to Lake Havasu City in Arizona for a FMCA 4 Wheeler Rally.
80 coaches and 160 people.  We spent each day out on the trails.
One day, we stopped at an old mining cabin that occasional hikers still use.
It was outstandingly decorated.  We cooked hot dogs and had a great lunch.

London Bridge in Lake Havasu at night is beautiful

The last day of our Jeep rally, we took a trail that ended up at the Desert Bar.
really unique place where you can get a burger, have a beer and
listen to the music……. In the middle of nowhere.

Spring in the desert brings out the most beautiful colors.  This is my favorite tree..
the gorgeous Jacaranda Tree.  The Coachella Valley is full of Jacaranda trees.

Pat has met a wonderful fella.  Rollie lives in 29 Palms
(about 1.5 hours from Indio)  It’s so nice to see Pat so happy.

March 2013

Spring has sprung and it’s warm in the desert……..

We had a showing of the Mesquite-Toes tap dancing troupe.
This was a great show by the senior women from Mesquite Nevada.

Believe it or not …… the desert is a home for Polo.
We spent an afternoon at the Empire Polo Club.
Great match – We had such fun

The flowers are loving our warm weather.

Outdoor Resorts annual “Sunshine Invitational” raises funds for charitable organizations in the area.  These were two luminaries we purchased this year.  These were very special.

The luminary event was beautiful.

Kenny Hess was our St. Patrick’s Day entertainer.
This guy is fabulous!

We made a trip over to Disneyland and California Adventure
to see Marc, Maria, Camryn and Colby.
We had a great time.  (When did my grandkids get so tall?)

Fun in the water……  Yes the old gal can still have fun!

While in the Coachella Valley, we all spent a day at a waterpark.
(Knotts Soak City)  It was so much fun getting soaked!

Oregon - Mike & Janet - October 2025
