We spent a great evening out on the river in the boat with
John and Sheri’s son and his wife!

Next, we spent a week with our “granddog”
Duke.  He’s such a special fella.

This is Duke’s new playground – no really it’s
Marc’s new playground!

Next stop – Neskowin (at the beach)
The weather was perfect

Pacific City was packed with visitors!

We visited the Tillamook Forestry Center..
Great stories of the Tillamook burn

We've Settled in the Sunshine - Mike & Janet - June 2023

Mount Hood was so beautiful and inviting

June 1st, we left Yuma and headed up north
for Anna’s graduation and birthday.

18 years old, graduating from High school
and getting ready to head off to Oregon State University.

A big party to celebrate “ANNA”

Graduation was from a very big High School
with all the pomp & circumstance

Grandma & Papa are so very proud.

The Little Guy “Enzo” came over to visit with
Mike & I.

Weather has been great !!

I started having some back pain and generally just not feeling well.
At Brandon’s insistence, I went to the local hospital Emergency Room.

It was a kidney infection, and two large kidney stones.  One stone was too large
to pass and the second (up by my kidney) was described by the doctor as “massive”

I spent the night at the hospital and the next day, I was in surgery.  They were able to get all of the stones
but they put in a Ureteral Stint to stay in for two weeks.

UGH!!!!

After a second night at the hospital, I was able to go back to Tiny  (our trailer)

This stint is VERY painful… not really pain but a terrible ache.

In the midst of all this, We moved out of the RV park in Vancouver to another
park down by Marc’s in Sherwood.  I have good days, and some not so good days.
The stint gets removed this coming Wednesday….  And it can’t come soon enough.

Way to put a drag on the start of our vacation.

Marc, Maria, Mike & I all took a few days to head over to Sunriver, OR.
The weather was fantastic….  Had a very relaxing time.

June has been an usual month…  but July is coming!!

Stay tuned for upcoming travels in July.

We've Settled in the Sunshine - Mike & Janet - May 2023

Cinco de Mayo at the Yuma Elks Lodge was so festive.
So much fun!

The Breakfast of Champions !
(Not on competition day !)

Getting ready for the Gymnastic Level 10
(the highest level you can go before entering the Olympic level)

National Finals……

We traveled to Oklahoma City for this National Event.

While in Oklahoma City, we visited the Oklahoma City
bombing memorial.  Such devastation… this is a must see !

We took a boat ride along the waterway in OKC.
The statues, the history, the beauty…..

Amazing.

Along the waterway

Oklahoma City is a beautiful city.
No litter, no graffiti, no homeless,
BUT
They have tornados !!
One night it came very close to us.
We were out on the freeway and the radio
was announcing “Take Cover – NOW”
I was scared but Brandon got us back to our rental, safe and sound.

Now – back to why we went to Oklahoma City….
Anna did so great.  In this picture – moving so fast,
I couldn’t get a clean picture.

Bars – Totally amazing !
She is on fire…..

But now for her next life…..  College.  OSU !!

Grandma and Papa – so very proud!

NATIONALS - !!!

June will see us traveling in Tiny.  (Our little travel trailer )
We are heading up to Oregon and southern Washington for a cool summer !

Stay tuned!

We've Settled in the Sunshine - Mike & Janet - April 2023

 I Think Summer has arrived

The mountains are beautiful with all of the wildflowers.

On a Jeep ride, Mike got pictures of these wild burros.

The famous “bra & pantie tree” out in the desert.

Even the cactus are in bloom

My flowers outside of our porch are loving the sun!

Mike sponsored a friend into the
Elks….. We had a great lunch and now Rick is on his way to becoming an Elk.

We had a visit from some old friends from Outdoor Resorts in Indio…..
Ken and Janet Zitterer nice lunch and a great visit

We took “Tiny” (the trailer) up to Parker CA on the
Colorado River.  Fun trip!

Emerald Cove was a very nice campground.

The Tiki Bar and the swimming pools were very nice.

The weather was great.

Another night of Karaoke here at Country Roads.
I think the singers are getting better…..better than at the first of the season  😊

April is coming to a close.
A really fun month.

Summer is coming.
I LOVE THE SUN !!

We've Settled in the Sunshine - Mike & Janet - February & March 2023

Two months have gone by…..

Short recap –

February 2nd was Mike’s 76 Birthday! – Wow – how he is getting so old?

We left for Nashville for Anna’s Gymnastics competition…
She was awesome and outstanding in the events!

We stayed at Gaylords Opryland Hotel – It was over the top
So Beautiful

We also went to the Country Music Hall of Fame
and the Belle Meade Equestrian Estate from the Civil War Era.

 A wonderful Trip !

We met up with Kim and Alice from Outdoor Resorts in Indio and
Rick and Gina Murphy from ORI now Country Roads Yuma –
We had a fun lunch
Great to see old friends

Later in February, we went with the club on a convertible trip
to Parker, AZ…… crossed the Parker Dam
and then went in search of wild burros…

March started out with the Marine Drum & Bugle Corps
in Yuma – Amazing !  A must see for sure!

Next our Convertible Club took a trip up to Martinez Lake
for lunch – A fun Convertible trip.

The Yuma Air Show was really fun.  Lot’s of planes
and lots of incredible pilots.  It was at the Marine Corps Air Station.

Absolutely FABULOUS news !!

Mike had a PET scan to find out if his treatments had taken care
of the cancer in his neck.

Absolutely NO signs of any cancer!

The best news ever !!

Pat & Rollie in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade

Our Materials Girls group made stuffed bears for kids in Yuma.
They are also given to the Alzheimer patients.

Quite a few street parties – Folks are starting to leave for the summer
Traffic in Yuma is slowing down.

Our Convertible Group had a two night “overnighter” to Laughlin, Nevada

And what would a trip to Laughlin be without a jaunt up to Oatman.
Oatman is a very old mining town in the hills.

Lots of gift shops – it is where the burro’s come down from the hills
to harass the visitors.
😊

Oatman is also known as part of Route 66

Weather on the way home was perfect for a “Tops down” ride.
